Installation Guide
The Yale five lever motice deadlock is available in a choice of two decorative finishes to match your door and includes all the required screws, fittings and an easy to follow instruction sheet with installation templates.
A mortice lock with a 76 mm (3 Inch) case is suitable for any external wooden door and has a 57 mm backset (distance from edge of door to centre of key hole) and is only suitable for solid wooden external doors.
There is no need to remove the lock from the door to measure what size you need. The backset size can be identified by measuring from the edge of the door to the centre of the key hole.
If you are replacing an existing unit you should be able to use the holes that are already on the door but might need to remove extra material from the door to fit the reinforced components of a BS 3621 mortice lock. Check your required size before ordering by using the simple guide.
A deadlock is commonly used on a front door in conjunction with a night latch for additional security.
