Afghanistan, 1981, and the Russians are locked in a long and difficult combat with the fiercesome Mujahedeen guerillas. A group of Soviet tanks becomes separated from the rest of its unit causing a trigger-happy tension among the Russian crew. But when the blood thirsty commander Daskal (George Dzundza) vents his frustration on a helpless Afghani village, he pushes the moral qualms of his soldiers to breaking point. But will it lead to an outright mutiny?
