This long length (200m), water-activated gum adhesive tape is easy to use. Simply wet the back of the tape (the shiny side) and apply to the materials to be bonded. It allows a few seconds of re-alignment if needed yet dries to a firm bond. Can be soaked off with water for temporary bonding of materials. Often used by framers to secure the back of the frame, this paper tape sticks readily to itself and will not deteriorate with time, temperature changes or sunlight (unlike many adhesive tapes). Loxley Gumstik tape is also used by watercolour artists to stretch their paper taught whilst painting. To do this, first leave your watercolour paper to soak for some time in clean water. Whilst it is resting in the water, you can be cutting your four lengths of Loxley Gumstik (each one slightly longer than the paper’s edge). Place your soaked watercolour paper on a drawing board or flat surface, dampen the rear of each strip that you cut and tape the paper to the board. Ensure each edge is fully taped and leave to dry. When dry, your paper will be perfectly stretched so will not ripple during the painting process.
Another popular use of this tape is paper crafting and model making – being easy to work with it is even a good modelling material in it’s own right!
Store in a dry environment.
