Yoda was a Jedi Master of a mysterious species, who served as the Grand Master of the Jedi Order in the declining days of the Galactic Republic. He was renowned within the Order for his wisdom, powers of the Force, and lightsaber combat, and he lived for nearly 900 years. Yoda spent eight centuries as a Jedi Master, training many generations of Jedi. Yoda was reluctantly persuaded into training Anakin and Luke Skywalker by his fellow Jedi Obi -Wan Kenobi. Despite his age and small size, Yoda was very strong with the Force and was an extremely skilled warrior. Yoda was capable of holding his own in combat against many powerful opponents. As he neared his death, Yoda accepted his own mortality and became one with the Force after his passing.
