How to replace a 4681EA2001T Drain Pump Motor?
Deactivate the power supply to your washing machine. Utilizing a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two lower brackets behind that are securing the top part in place. Draw the top back an inch and carefully lift it off. Extract the soap drawer while simultaneously pushing down on the release tab to completely remove it. To remove the panel, look for two screws located on either side of the opening. Depending on your model, you may also find a screw situated on the right-hand side that goes into its face. Other models will have some locking tabs across the top. To access the console, all you need to do is pull up on that tab and release those securing clips! If you notice that the tab on the right-hand side of your control panel is slightly tight, take a flathead screwdriver and carefully pry apart the gap between it and its metal bracket. Once freed up, easily lift it off its cabinet before setting it atop.
Open the door at the bottom left of your appliance and set it aside. Pull out the small drain hose. Detach the end of your hose. Unscrew one Phillips screw located on the bottom part of the drain clean-out. Unclip the assembly and use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry it away from the top. Remove one Phillips screw located at the bottom.
Detach the band clamp around the washer door. Use a flat-blade screwdriver to delicately slip in between the spring and the bellows. To remove the band clamp, pry out the spring and discard it. This will allow you to peel away the boot from its front panel and push it into your intended opening. To detach the wire harness from the bottom, simply press down on its locking tab and pull it straight downwards. Once the door is shut, unscrew the four bolts located at its upper part. Brace and support both components before you take out the last screw. To disconnect it from three lower tabs in the frame, slightly lift up on it while angling forward.
Depending on what exact model you have, there may be either two or three hoses connected to the motor. Then twist and take out each hose. Unscrew the remaining two screws situated in front of the pump assembly. Models with a metal bracket around that same area will require three bolts to be taken off. If your model does not possess this bracket, there should be a locking tab located near its center rear side.
If your model does not have mounting bolts to keep the pump in place, it likely has a locking tab and channel instead. To extract the pump, simply push down on the locking tab and move it backward out of its position. Press down on the pump, slide it back and then lift up the entire assembly. Detach the wire harness and pay attention to its colors. Place the pump assembly onto a sturdy work surface. Remove the three screws and fasten the pump motor onto its body. Remove the cover from the existing motor by using a flat-blade screwdriver. Simply slip it under the edge and use some pressure to pry it out enough for you to slide off. Take off the whole motor and set it aside before sliding your new one into place.
Align the engine on the pump body and make sure to insert it into the locating tabs. Once in place, firmly press down onto the pump body before securing it with three screws. Reinstall your wire harness. Place the part underneath the small retainer and then set the pump in its spot. Insert the drain hose through it first before positioning your pump overtop. Line up this piece with the guide on the base of the washer and push until the locking tab locks into position securely. Attach it, using two screws, at the top for proper keeping in place! Reinstall your tub to both the pump hose and drain hose. This must be done with precision – aligning and squeezing together firmly so it won't slip off or leak. Continue by locating the drain hose which should be secured over the top of the pump body then use a clamp for added security. When replacing the front panel, be sure to align its three slots at the bottom with the base's three tabs in order for it to fit properly. Make sure the locking tab engages before you firmly place the panel in position. Align the screws at the top and torque them securely for optimal security.
After returning the cap to its position on the drain tube, push it back through its opening. Securely place the housing and reinstall that retaining screw at its bottom. Attach your freshly-clipped drain tube into a little holder situated on the side before replacing your cover. Securely attach the band clamp to the front and proceed by carefully pulling back out the door boot through its designated opening. To ensure a snug fit, match up V-shaped grooves located on both sides of this component with the groove that runs all around your model's front panel. It's imperative that you ensure the piece is correctly secured all around. Examine thoroughly to make sure it sits flush in every direction, then position the spring at six o'clock. Wrap the band into the groove. Take a pair of needle nose pliers and grasp the hook on that spring's end firmly – ensure that it won't slip through your grip! To achieve the necessary tension, stretch the spring to its fullest extent towards the right-hand side. This will give you sufficient strength to place it into position without damaging any of the door boot components. Make sure that the clamp is securely placed in its groove.
Reconnect the control panel. To secure the control panel, there are two locating tabs underneath its top lip that will fit into three slots across the frame's upper rim. Align accordingly and tuck it behind the front panel before pressing firmly to lock it in place. To secure the model in place, there are several locking tabs along the top edge. If your specific model has a single screw on its right-hand side at the back, that needs to be installed next. Affix the two screws to the frame on either side of your soapbox's opening. Attach the main top. Our repair is all finished.
