During the mid 1960s The Watersons were the biggest thing on the British Folk Scene. This original and highly influential vocal group consisted of Mike, Norma & Lal Waterson and cousin John Harrison. By 1975, it had been several years since they recorded and this album marked their comeback with Martin Carthy replacing John Harrison. Almost entirely a capella, this recording sounds like the back room of an old pub in its charming immediacy, listeners really get a sense of the fun it is to sing these old songs with affection and respect. Presented in a digipack, it is released in the original running order for the first time on CD and is remastered from the original studio tapes.
